Restoring Education to the States: A Decisive Plan for South Dakota

With President Trump’s commitment to shutting down the Department of Education, we have a historic opportunity to restore decision-making power where it belongs—at the state and local level. The influence of Washington bureaucrats and powerful teachers’ unions, which too often prioritize politics over students, must be eliminated. The responsibility for shaping our children’s education should rest with parents and local school boards, not distant officials with no stake in our communities.

As governor, I will champion school choice initiatives that allow parents to select the best education for their children—whether public, private, charter, or homeschooling. I will only support legislation that empowers parents, ensures transparency in curriculum, and reinforces the core principles of our constitutional Republic.
