Securing South Dakota from the Consequences of Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigration remains a serious issue for South Dakota, even though we do not share a border with Mexico. The consequences of weak federal enforcement—ranging from the influx of drugs to criminal activity—affect every state, including ours. If the federal government refuses to fulfill its duty, it falls on state leadership to protect our citizens.
It is also important to note that former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem now serves as the Head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). With this national responsibility, she must ensure that her home state is secure from the consequences of illegal immigration. South Dakota cannot be ignored in the fight to protect our borders and communities.
As governor, I will take decisive action to ensure that illegal immigrants are not allowed to settle in South Dakota, preserving the safety and stability of our communities. I will push for legislation and executive authority that enables local law enforcement to apprehend and remove those in the country illegally. We will not be a sanctuary for lawlessness.
Furthermore, I will establish a dedicated task force to address illegal immigration head-on—without political posturing or empty rhetoric. South Dakota must stand strong, enforcing the rule of law and defending its people from the consequences of federal inaction.
